Abstract

Objectives: The results of prophylactic antibiotics in open heart surgeries at 175 military hospital in 2020.

Subjects and method: Retrospective and cross-sectional study was conducted in 45 patients who was performed open heart surgeries at Thoracic and Cadiovascular department of 175 military hospital from 5/2020 to 10/2020.

Results: The average age of patients is 42.5±14.9 years, the smallest age is 12, the highest age is 75. Gender is evenly. The patients belong to two groups: acquired heart diseases and congenital heart diseases (atrial septal defects, ventricular septal defects). 100% of patients was used prophylactic antibiotics, 9 patients have used antibiotic treatment, such as: 01 infectious wound patient(2,2%), 01 prolonged mechanical ventilation patient (2,2%), 04 urinary infection patients (8,9%), 03 pneumonia patients (6,7%). 80% of patients with good results.

Conclusion: The use of prophylactic antibiotics in open-heart surgery at 175 Military Hospital initially achieved good results with an efficiency rate of 80%.
